Those fish were …
Those fish were caught in the "wintering hole" on that lake, not on spawning beds. In the winter, they all pile into the deepest possible water. Once the water warms, they scatter across the shallow flats to set up spawning locations. On this day the water was 43 degrees, not even close to spawn time on this lake. They moved up on the beds in Late April-Early May 2006, 6 weeks after this video was shot. I also prefer not to target bass on the beds.

im guessin those weren't "dudes' but dudettes. getting ready to spawn making beds in the shallows.
personally i prefer to leave spawning fish alone and if caught get them back in the water ASAP
