It was not the regular fishermen who made things bad. We had trawlers do that. They out nets out on huge ships and took everything. Mostly foreign.

I fished in NJ (not for my living). Year by year with the Russian and Japanese ships sport fishing disappeared (we never took more than we used).

I can only imagine what that did to people who, for generations, did the fishing for their lives

I'm not judging. I'm just stating some facts. It's August already and I think I've earned around $10,000. I'm self employed as well so I know whats its like to live without knowing whats around the corner. 3 years ago I made $15,000. So when people start complaining about money I just don't have time to listen. A farmer of the family earned around $70,000 2 years ago part time. With his write offs it looked like he was in the minus. So he goes around telling people he lost money which is a lie.

This past year was -876 US dollars. This year I hope for around 16 grand (at best) and I own a 276 acre farm. You don't know the circumstancs so don't judge. Farmers and fishermen work for the government now. I am out next year. I am selling my allotments and land trust. DONE. Going to start teaching.

If we get good weather, prices, and good catches we can earn anywheres from 50-70 grand but if we have a bad year like last year we make just over 25 grand.
