Salmon Fishing in December on a pond, how do I set up my reel ?

My local pond is stocking it with Atlantic Salmon, the pond isnt frozen but I'd like to know whats the best bait to use and how to set up my spinning reel start to finish ? first timer

I can't tell you how to fish for salmon in a pond, but here on the coast in California we mooch for salmon using anchovies. Mooching is basically lowering a whole anchovy into the water while parked in a boat.
Another method is trolling, where the boat is going about 1 to 2 miles per hour. A heavy weight (about 8 pounds) is used to keep the bait low in the water while moving. There are strong opinions on which method is best.
